Hurricane Market & Claims Update
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita may have already faded from the headlines but their impact will be felt in the insurance market for years. 2005 is set to be one of the worst years on record for hurricanes. According to many commentators, in insurance terms Katrina is potentially the most expensive natural catastrophe in history and is likely to affect insurance rates and terms through 2006. Hurricane Rita on the other hand, while doing limited damage on land, may have been even more destructive offshore.
This site has been designed to keep you up-to-date with developments and help you plan for your insurance programme renewal, as well as provide advice to companies affected by the disaster.
On 22nd September JLT held a client and prospect teleconference to discuss Hurricane Katrina's potential impact on the insurance market and claims losses. This document is a transcript of that discussion.
